The strategic vision of the Space2030 agenda outlines the aim of States Members of the United Nations to leverage to a greater extent new, innovative technologies, such as space technologies and their applications, to contribute to improved delivery of the mandates of the United Nations as a whole.
Member States agreed that in view of implementing the "Space2030" Agenda, the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space and the Office for Outer Space Affairs should continue to fulfill their respective mandates and cooperate and coordinate with other relevant entities within the United Nations system, including through UN-Space, the formal mechanism for United Nations system-wide cooperation and coordination in space-related activities. The Joint UN-Space-World Space Forum session will therefore look at the synergies in the work of the Committee and its subsidiary bodies and United Nations entities, focussing, in particular, on advancing the work under the Space and Global Health Platform and Network, established by the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee at the 59 th session in February 2022.
The session will promote dialogue among Member States, Forum participants, and United Nations entities dealing with space, on the interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral space-related matter and identify synergies for greater international cooperation in the peaceful exploration and use of outer space and in the utilization of space science and technology for sustainable development.
