Special Events

"Celebrating 50 years of Space Achievements"

 

The year 2007 marks the the 50th session of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. It also is the 50th anniversary of the launch of the first man-made satellite "Sputnik-1" into Earth orbit, and the 40th anniversary of the Outer Space Treaty. In celebration, the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs at Vienna will host a series of special events at the Vienna International Centre (VIC) in June.

The special events are:

  • High-level Panel on Space Exploration (16:00 hrs 6 June 2007 in the UN/UNIDO Board room)
  • Photo-exhibition on the "United Nations and Outer Space" (6-15 June 2007 in the C07 corridor)
  • Video documentaries on space-related subjects (lunch time from 7 to 14 June in Conference Room III)
  • Multinational exhibition on "50 Years of Space Achievements" (6-29 June in the VIC Rotunda)

The Special Events are open to delegations, VIC staff, and the general public. Non-VIC pass holder must fill in a security clearance form to access the VIC complex.
